Make an Appointment

The Writing Center supports writers at George Mason University through one-to-one consultations at any stage of the writing process, from brainstorming to the final phases of polishing. You can book free 45-minute appointments to receive feedback in person, on Zoom, or through email with written feedback. Consultants can help you develop your ideas, provide feedback on a draft, answer your questions, and show you strategies for brainstorming, organizing, drafting, revising, and editing.

To make an appointment for face-to-face or online consulting, please

  1. watch our short video, at the bottom of this page, that describes our services and shows how our online scheduler works,
  2. register with us online,
  3. read our policies,
  4. log on to our online scheduler, and
  5. make an appointment.

If we are fully booked for the day or time you want, you can put your name on the wait list for a particular day and time range. On our scheduler, click the small "Waiting List" text on the bottom right of the day you want and fill out the wait list form. If an appointment becomes available, you'll receive an email or text message. You must then log on to the scheduler and grab that appointment—everyone on the wait list receives the same message!

To cancel an appointment you've made, log on to the scheduler, click your appointment slot, scroll to the bottom of the window, and click "Cancel."
