On-Site Reference Materials
You and your students are
invited to browse our online materials or, better yet, stop in and use the UWC Writer's
Reference Shelves, packed with writer's guides and style manuals from across the
disciplines, including manuals for MLA, APA, CBE, and others. The UWC must require
that these books stay in the Writing Center, but we'll provide you with plenty of
space to work.
The UWC also maintains a well-stocked handout cabinet with free information on a
wide range of writing topics. Reference materials can also be found on the UWC web
site, which provides links to style guides and other writing centers around the
country and around the world.
A University Writing Center/Writing Across the Curriculum newsletter
Published once a semester,
Writing@Center features articles describing "best practices" in courses
across the university; tips on teaching with writing; discussions of issues related
to responding to, evaluating, and assessing student writing; tutors' observations
on sessions with their UWC clients; and summaries of brown bag discussions on WAC
topics.
